I love the way I have heard oxidation described. If you have seen rust, you have seen oxidation. If you have ever seen an apple turn brown, you have see oxidation. Oxidation happens in our bodies because of free radicals (I know, chemistry, sorry). Oxidation is a kind of rusting from within our body. This rusting causes inflammation within the arteries. Inflammation is the true cause of heart disease.

Please hear this……High Cholesterol does NOT cause heart disease. One of the things cholesterol does is go to the sight of injury and try to fix it. The inflammation is something in the artieries it is trying to fix. So cholesterol is found at the site of the blockage because it comes and comes to help out until there is too much helping. BUT Blaming cholesterol for heart disease is like blaming a fireman for the fire. If you see a fire, there will be fireman there trying to fix it. Does this mean they are the cause of the fire? Neither is cholesterol the cause of heart disease. Oxidation and Inflammation are. Cholesterol is not.
So where does sugar fit in. The body must have cholesterol to function. The brain must have it. The cells must have it. The hormones cannot be made without it. The liver will take the sugar and make cholesterol if it is not getting REAL good cholesterol from our diet. The cholesterol from an egg or good cream from a grass fed beef is not the same kind of cholesterol that our body makes out of glucose. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE BODY TO STOP MAKING CHOLESTEROL IS TO EAT DIETARY CHOLESTEROL.
It is most definitely a paradigm shift in thinking. We have been told that Cholesterol is the cause for so long that we have not fixed what truly makes diabetes and heart disease.
