Excess CARBOHYDRATES increases INSULIN which increases inflammation, damaged blood vessels, and plaque, causing diabetes and dementia including Alzheimer’s Disease.

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE is being called Type 3 Diabetes.

Insulin Resistance causes dementia. Insulin Resistance, although it has more than one cause, the majority of the time is caused by an over abundance of carbohydrates causing insulin overproduction to keep up with the amount of sugar. Insulin Resistance generally turns into diabetes within 10 years or sooner.

Alzheimers Brain Diabetes

From the Alzheimers’ Association – “At first the body makes more insulin to get the energy (sugar) it needs. Eventually, the body is making all the insulin it can. If cells grow more insulin resistant, blood sugar will rise higher, and diabetes will develop.”

“When diabetes is not controlled, too much sugar remains in the blood. Over time, this can damage organs, including the brain.”

• Diabetes raises the risk of heart disease and stroke, which hurt the heart and blood vessels. Damaged blood vessels in the brain may contribute to Alzheimer’s disease.

• The brain depends on many different chemicals, which may be unbalanced by too much insulin. Some of these changes may help trigger Alzheimer’s disease.

• High blood sugar causes inflammation. This may damage brain cells and help Alzheimer’s to develop.

The Mayo Clinic is beginning to show research that confirms the connection between Diabetes and Alzheimer’s. Those who have developed type 2 diabetes are at higher risk for Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementia. The blood vessel damage that takes place because of diabetes cause damage to the brain causing vascular dementia.

Ongoing research is being done on the connection between how the brain responds to high sugar and insulin in the body.
