I had been labeled “Pre-diabetic” and I didn’t take it seriously. Then the numbers went over into “diabetic”, I went home from the Dr’s with a prescription and a diabetes diet guideline on how to eat. I took the med for three days and felt horrible on it, so I stopped taking it!! I decided I loved myself enough to take this into my control and not give my health away to a prescription bottle – I did a lot of reading, made drastic changes in my diet: No processed anything, no sugar of any kind, no grains, no fruit even. Went back to the Dr in 4 weeks, he hit the roof when I told him I stopped the med after 3 days, but then he saw my 20lb weight loss and the blood work showed a huge positive change. I told him the diabetes diet would have killed me if I had followed it. 9 months later I had lost 50 lbs. I still have to be careful adding even whole grain brown rice to my diet, but I can have a piece of fresh fruit daily. I am on a journey to lose another 50 lbs to reach my ideal weight for me and my frame. Thank you Jim and Rhenda and Marianneyou are an inspiration to me to keep working at it because I am worth it. I’m turning 60 this year and I am healthier and in better shape than I have been in 30 years.
